Friendships and fights go hand in hand in Bollywood. Once upon a time Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rani Mukerji were best friends and soon they became enemies when Aish was replaced by Rani in Chalte Chalte. The film starred Shah Rukh Khan as the male lead and their feud also involved Salman Khan, the alleged ex-boyfriend of the Devdas actress.
Salman reportedly vandalized some property on the sets of Chalte Chalte and this didn’t sit well with the production house who replaced Aishwarya with Rani for obvious reasons and the rest is history. Not only that, Khan created a big drama on the sets, which was one of the biggest controversies of the time.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was not asked to be replaced before and was suddenly fired. Not just the production team, she also felt that Shah Rukh Khan replaced her in the film with Rani Mukarji, as reported by Her Zindagi.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan reportedly felt cheated and betrayed by her two close friends in the industry, Rani Mukarji and Shah Rukh Khan.
Then, Aish did not invite Rani to her wedding with Abhishek Bachchan, which further escalated their feud. One of the reasons behind this is his husband’s former relationship with Rani, who was once known to everyone in the Bollywood industry.
Officially, both the actresses have never disputed each other on record in press conferences or media events. Later in 2014, Rani secretly married YRF honcho Aditya Chopra in Italy and this surprised all her fans.
Once in an interview the Chalte Chalte actress was asked who is her favorite actress in Bollywood and she replied, “From my generation, Aishwarya and Preity Zinta”.
