Dunhinda Is a Beautiful Waterfall in Sri Lanka. This Waterfall, Which is a Wonderful Creation of Badulu oya river. Visiting this wonderful environment, you can really take part in a wonderful miracle of nature. When you look closely, you can see the wonderful waterfall bride dressed in a collapsing silver veil. Is Located in the Badulla District of the Uva Province in Sri Lanka. To reach this waterfall from Badulla town, one has to take the Badulla – Mahiyangana Main road. After going about 6km on this road you will meet Dunhinda Junction. The sign board with a gate on the right side of the place is easily recognizable. The waterfall can be reached by walking for about 1km along the small foot-path starting from the junction.
Dunhinda falls is 64 meters height. Although it is short in height , but it’s not lacking in beauty. This waterfall get it’s name Dunhinda because of the smoky dew drops spray. There are various legends about the origin of Dunhinda falls. In the past, there was a large vine between Dunhinda Pathana and Kosgolla during a royal period. Due to the increase of this vine, the course of Badulu Oya has changed due to accumulation of dirt and debris. Due to this, the city of Badulla has been submerged and it has looked like a bath full of water. Then the king sent an order to cut the vine and gave gift to the person who cut it. After cutting the vine, the city is protected. The water that flowed that day has created the Dunhinda waterfall.
The road leading to the waterfall is narrow, so be careful. Don’t forget to watch out for the monkeys that hang around there. Monkeys on both sides of the jungle will check your bags without your permission. They will eat your food even if you don’t like it. They can give you fear, curiosity, laughter for free. Birds will sing for you on the way. If you are lucky you can also see animals like deer. Not only that, you can also enjoy cold drinks, sweets, tea, roti on trip. You can also buy a souvenir if you like.
